AACR to Host Annual Cancer Prevention Conference

• Conference held Nov. 7-10, 2010, at the Philadelphia Convention Center.
• Press conference on Nov. 8 will focus on chemoprevention.
• Press conference on Nov. 9 will highlight research in women’s health.

PHILADELPHIA — The American Association for Cancer Research will host its Ninth Annual Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Research Conference Nov. 7-10 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

Experts estimate that nearly half of all cancers can be prevented based on what we know about smoking cessation, healthy lifestyles and the emerging science of chemoprevention. This annual international conference is a one-of-a-kind meeting that draws hundreds of physicians, scientists and other health professionals.

The AACR Communications Department will host two media events:

On Monday, Nov. 8, at 12:30 p.m. ET, Scott Lippman, M.D., editor-in-chief of Cancer Prevention Research and professor and chair in the department of thoracic head and neck medical oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, will host a press conference entitled, “The Emerging Science of Chemoprevention.”

This press conference will be held in room 203A of the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

On Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 12:00 p.m. ET, Judy E. Garber, M.D., M.P.H., president-elect of the American Association for Cancer Research and leader of the Center for Cancer Genetics and Prevention at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute will host a press conference called, “Cancer Prevention For Women.”

This press conference will be held in room 203A of the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
